Scottie Scheffler from PGA Championship Spike: “I didn't rate much”

Fort Worth, Texas – since he keeps most of his feelings under lock and key, these few moments when Scottie let go of Scheffler seem almost worrying, as if something under the surface that the Texan has finally unleashed.

But even though he hit his hat on the lawn after winning the PGA championship at Quail Hollow, Scheffler insisted on Wednesday that there was no dramatic background story, and that it was simply a decision of the moment that he made when he realized that he had conquered his third main title.

In fact, Scheffler laughed a little laugh before the Colonial Country Club in the run -up to the Charles Schwab Challenge this week when he was asked about the gesture.

“When I played football, I didn't achieve very many touchdowns, so I was unable to find out,” he joked. “I don't really have much to say. I think I have left my emotions a bit, and I think my brain decided there that it wanted to go at the time. I really have no explanation at all.”

For Scheffler, who joined the elite company in Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only player in the modern era, the 15 times, all before the age of 29, life never seems to come to a standstill, but instead, the native of Dallas simply seems to meet and stay in it.

It is rarely too high and rarely too low, even after an injury in his plans in the early season has thrown a wrench. Chatting with Scheffler days after winning the PGA championship is similar to talking to him when he only published one top 5 show in his first five tournaments. Since then, he has had four top 5 positions for the record.

“Every tournament is trying to treat it differently. If I achieved a big victory, there is obviously a lot of emotions and things that go hand in hand with the winning of this golf tournament, but at the end of the day I not only appeared here to walk around and celebrate last week,” he said. “I am here for a certain reason, and that shouldn't just play a few ceremonic rounds and then go off in sunset. I am here for a certain reason. That should compete.

My preparatory work for this tournament will obviously be a little different than normally for an event. I didn't really do much yesterday or the day before. Yesterday I went to the gym and came back a bit, but this was my first time on the course. Today I only play nine holes and come out of here. I don't do my normal exercise routine just because I have to concentrate more on peace than prepared for the course. Fortunately, this is a golf course that I have been able to do many times. Today I have a good feeling for the speed of the green, hit a few bunker shots and hit a few chips from the rough. Outside, I have to give my brain and body a break to prepare for another event. “

In the past, Scheffler avoided playing the week before Majors if possible, a trend that he continued this season, and he quickly played both with the Byron Nelson and Schwab event, since the two are at the distance of his house. Since he won the CJ Cup on the TPC Craig Ranch in the nearby McKinney three weeks ago and then lost the typical Truist championship, he has been working for the fourth time in his career at Siegen in a row.

If he wins in colonial, a place where he has ended in the top 3 in the last three seasons

For the time being, Scheffler is only happy to enjoy the comfort from home. And some longevity – the opening round on Thursday will be his 500th on the PGA tour.

“I think every time I can sleep in my own bed and play a golf tournament, it's a nice thing,” he said. “It's nice to be here at home. We always get great support here in the Metropex and it is always fun to return here to play colonial.

“I love the golf course here. I think it's a great test. This is also one of the big reasons why I'm trying to come to this event every year. Overall, it is great to be back in the metropex. As I said, we have a lot of support.
