Stacy died in a collision with a vehicle in Hickman C.Inadequate After his vehicle left the street and hit a tree. According to the Kentucky state police, Stacy drove his son Michael “Beau” Stacy. Beau suffered injuries and was released from a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday evening.

Stacy represented the counties Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman.

The sheriff of Graves County, Jon Hayden, said Stacy was an essential part of the communities and Westkentucky. He described Stacy as optimistic and said he was not only a good person, but also a good public prosecutor.

“You never know from one minute to the next if it will be your time,” said Hyden. “You know, that's just a very good example of this.”

“One thing that is just so unique to Mike was the fact that it didn't matter which side of the law they were on,” said Hayden. “We see stories about people he had lifted and whom he had sent to prison. He had written letters to them while they were in prison, and just checked them. I mean, who does that? Mike Stacy.”

Mark Bryant, the president of the Bryant Law Center in Paducah, said the day before Stacy's death, he spoke to Stacy on the phone, said the two laughing and “shooting the breeze”.

“When I talked to Mike, we just talk about everything,” said Bryant. “We talk about films, things that we saw on TV just about things that make them with their friends. And occasionally we talk about cases.”

Bryant said he met Stacy after Stacy had completed the legal faculty when he accepted a position as deputy lawyer of a Commonwealth. At that time, Bryant served as a lawyer of McCracken County Commonwealth, and Stacy served as chief assistant in the river circles.

Her friendship lasted 40 years after Bryant retired from the McCracken County Commonwealth lawyer.

“Mike is younger than me, eight years younger than me,” said Bryant. “He was always, I mean, he is a good athlete and fun. They thought he was nearby forever, and suddenly they only recognize, especially when they get older, that we do not all live forever.”

Bryant spoke about Stacy's son Beau and said: “I held him up when he was a child in the courthouse.”

Beau worked with his father and learned the ropes to hopefully become a Lawyer at Commonwealth. Bryant said that if Beau wanted to be a Commonwealth lawyer, he would help him get there.

“I would certainly help him because I know what his father thought about him and I know what people think about him. He would be a good lawyer of a good Commonwealth, but it is the choice of governor who it will be,” said Bryant.

Regarding who will fill out Stacy's position after his death, Bryant said that the governor could apply for the Attorney General to appoint someone who manages Stacy's criminal matters until the next election.

Bryant noted that everyone who is interested in becoming the Lawyer of the Commonwealth would run for the election and would take on the role of the Commonwealth lawyer after the election.

Governor Andy Beshear's office has not yet commented on a timeline about when Stacys seat is filled or whether his son is considered.
