The city council of Moundsville deprives new regulations for video lotteries and vape stores

Regulations regarding video lotteries and vape shops were a topic of discussion at the most recent city council meeting in Moundsville.

Although there were two different regulations, they were approved so that they were designed and both had an impact on companies and residents.

There is currently a regulation in which the video lottery shops restrict, which are to be reopened up to a year after their original closure in the same place. If they are adopted, the new regulations would change these restrictions.

“One of the things we hear a lot from the residents is:” We have too many of these types of places, “said City Manager Rick Healy.” Listen to a company is a business. We are pleased that we let a business lure, but the council has concerns if you close, can another open in this place? “

Healy said the council is considering a change to demand the locations to be reopened in 180 days instead of a year.

“Since the economic times are difficult, it is difficult to believe that people lose money in these facilities,” said Healy.

The Council also considers the addition of a similar regulation for VAPE shops. It would model the LVL regulation, but they may only be opened in certain districts throughout the city. These would also have to be reopened within the 180-day time frame.

“Our children continue to have problems smoking and things like that, these places don't make it better.”

Healy added that the city wants to see that companies come to the area, but they want a variety in the future.

“Well, I think we hear a lot from the residents, the advice hears a lot about the residents,” said Healy. “We want new companies. We are always looking for and speak to bring new companies to the city. Unfortunately, these business serve a small sector of people, and we would rather serve many people in the city.”

There will be a first and second reading, followed by a vote before these regulations would be right.
