A mass took place on Wednesday evening to honor the life of Two sisters who were killed in a millville, New Jersey, which happened in April.

Family members who consoled each other gathered with students from Bishop Schad Regional School for a special fair in the Sacred Heart Church to honor two young life too early. The 13-year-old Valery and 11-year-old Gissel Cardona Gómez were killed when a fire broke out in Millville on April 9th ​​in the family in the South 4th Street.

“It is difficult to go to this classroom and not to be expected that she is there,” said Susan Bencie, the fifth grade teacher at the school.

Gissel Cardona Gómez was in Bencie's class of the fifth grade this year, and Valery Cardona Gómez was her student two years ago. Valery Cardona Gómez loved gymnastics, painting and singing, and she dreamed of going into the army one day. Gissel Cardona Gómez also loved gymnastics, reading and animals, and she wanted to become a veterinarian.

“They were friends with everyone, they really had no one in the class with which they were not friends or didn't add things, and they all felt like they were to be their best friend,” said Bencie.

Bencie and her students made a book to give the family, since many are still very mourning for this immense loss.

“You wrote notes and things. Our book was called 'Gissel is our friend', so every page began with 'My Freund Gissel is' and they talked about and shared memories,” said Bencie.

Sister Olga Cano, the director of Bishop Schad Regional School, welcomed the family when they arrived, and said her heart was still difficult with what happened with two beautiful people.

Two houses were destroyed in the fire, including Gissel and Valery. It also distributed at least 23 inhabitants. But from all this tragedy, they say that this community has come together in their grief.

“I think it's wonderful that we are all together and I hope that it will be a celebration of her life,” said Bencie.

Valery and Gissel's father and 2-year-old twin siblings survived the fire. The cause remains examined.
