Man who died in the identified accident, arrested teenagers

Colorado Springs, Colorado (Koaa)-a man who died after an accident in Colorado Springs was identified and a teenager was arrested.

According to the Coroner's Office by El Paso County, the man Fred Brockway was 70-year-old Fred Brockway.

The crash occurred on Sunday, May 11th, shortly after 3 p.m. at the South Murray Boulevard near Fountain Boulevard.

According to an investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Brockway went through the left with a green light in a pedestrian zeal strip from west to east on South Murray Boulevard when he was hit by a vehicle. CSPD says the vehicle left the scene.

Brockway was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries three days later.

The next day, CSPD said they had contacted and arrested a 17-year-old who drove the vehicle at the time of the crash. Due to the age of the teenager, his name is not published.

The following was charged to the teenager:

  • Hit and run with death
  • Driver to take care of the foundation for pedestrians

According to the CSPD, this is the 12th traffic death in the city. At that time last year she stated that there were 18 traffic deaths.
