In the past few days we have an insight into what will come soon – not far down, but things that feel like it in the near future. If you have captured that Google I/O Keynote, you have probably seen what I mean: New AI tools for videos, smooth real -time translation, even called something Artificial Pokémon intelligence and a few cooler technologies. And on the hardware front, Huawei just dropped his Matebook Fold Laptop with a folding screen. When you are open, you get a massive 18-inch display, but fold it together and it is about the size of a 13-inch laptop.

Apple could cook something similar and now another big player could jump in.

According to reports, Amazon is reporting its own foldable laptop. This project has not yet started officially, but if everything goes well, it could reach mass production by the end of 2026 or 2027. If this timeline applies, Amazon Apple could actually beat to market with this type of device.

After this latest leak, Apple's foldable laptop/tablet plans seem to be pushed back, now around 2027 or 2028, although it is expected Previous rumors suggested a late 2026 or Start in early 2027.

Of course, apple rumors are almost always a mixed bag, so nothing is carved in stone. But one thing is clear: Apple definitely works on a foldable laptop. With Amazon, which also step in, foldable laptops could really be the next big thing.

No other details have been leaked and a big question is what the Amazon operating system selects – Windows or Fire OS. The same applies to Apple – will it run macOS or ipados? We have a while to wait before we see them in real life, but expect more news when the timeline comes closer.

Huawei, for example, went with his own Harmonyos 5 for his foldable laptop. This is the first time that Huawei uses its internal operating system on a PC. Harmonyos originally started on Android devices after losing access to Microsoft Windows in March due to US sanctions, Huawei shifted to his own system for laptops.

Well, foldable laptops like the new model from Huawei – and the versions of Apple and Amazon definitely look slim and stylish in pictures. But I am not quite sold how practical you will be – especially when it is folded. The complete open-screen mode with a separate keyboard seems to be promising, but if the software is folded, however, it must be flawless to avoid strange disorders of random touch or other problems. I have to try it myself to be safe, but at the moment I'm still a bit on my fence about foldable laptops. What do you think?
