Increasing internet crimes against children; What parents need to know

Rapid City, SD (Kota) – “All people who do not want to leave their children for 10 seconds leave them in their bedroom for hours,” said the forensic examiner Hollie Strand at the Sheriff's Sheriff in Pennington County.

Beach has seen the worst worst when it comes to internet crimes against children.

“Our children should be able to go online, to have fun, explore, but the reality is that they encounter pornography. There will be people who offer them money for pictures and videos.

In 2024, the cybertipline received 20.5 million reports on alleged sexual exploitation of children.

Beach asks every parent in Kota Territory to monitor his child's life online.

“I would never want to put my children into the situation in which they are tried to do something because they do not have this brain development and life experience to really understand what they get involved,” said Strand.

“It would be really nice if every parent in South Dakota refused to have electronic devices in his bedroom, bathroom and overnight. Many of these exploitation cases happen here,” said Strand.

It is not just teenagers who have to monitor parents. Of all the sexual abuse of children reported, 76 percent contain material with pre -puberty children.

According to the beach, parents should monitor parents from social media such as Snapchat and Instagram to games such as Discord and Roblox.
