The video shows a capsized ferry in the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan, not in Sulawesi

An old video of a ferry that sinks in Indonesia has appeared in social media posts, in which it is claimed that it shows an incident on the island of Sulawesi in April. The clip circulated in a news report about the passenger ferry in 2021 in the province of West Kalimantan in Borneo.

The same video was shared elsewhere on Facebook after a boat with eight passengers due to extreme weather in the waters of Selayar Island's Regency, South Sulawesi. The Indonesian media organization Detik reported that there were no deaths (archived connection) during the accident.

However, there are no official reports about a ferry that corrects on May 22nd in the Parepar Hepulage.

A combination of Google Reverse image and keyword search inquiries found the same clip, which was used in a news report by the Indonesian broadcaster in WEWS on February 21, 2021 via a ferry in the Perigi Piai port of West Kalimantan (Archived Link).

The circulating video can be seen in the 14-second mark of the video view, in which the balance has lost its balance, according to the ship, exit from one side and broke the docking rope.

The video corresponds to the Google Maps pictures of the Perigi Piai port, 1,300 kilometers (archived link) removed from the Parare port.

A video of the accident was also served on the Perigi Piai Port (Archived Link).
