Injured USFS firefighter stable after 230 days in the hospital

The firefighter of the US forest service, Justin Shaw, is stable after fighting a fire in the district of Salmon River Ranger in Idaho last August.

Shaw started his recovery unable to speak, eat or stand without support.

Now officials say that he feeds himself and dresses. His family thanks the hospital, friends and family for their support.

Shaw will continue his therapy in Omaha, Nebraska.

Read Shaws Familie's comments below:

“Justin spent 230 days in the Craig Hospital. He made considerable profits in his recovery. When he arrived, he could not speak, eat, stand or even sit without support. Now he feeds and pulls himself and works on clarity and language. Justin can still not go independently every day.

He subjected three cranioplasties due to infections or other complications. Despite these setbacks, he made it improve every day and continues to strive for independence. Craig is a great place. It has state -of -the -art devices, but even more important, knowledgeable therapists and medical staff who really take care of every patient and want them to exhaust their full potential. As soon as you are a patient at Craig, you are part of your family. “

“Justin is now medically stable and will continue his therapy at QLI in Omaha Nebraska. Progress in outpatient rehab.”

“This trip is long and difficult, but Justin worked extremely hard with the support of his family and friends. Many thanks to the Forst Service team from the Arapaho/Roosevelt Forest who helped our family while we were in Denver. And above all their prayers.
