Matteo Berrettini runs out of French Open because of an injury

Paris – Matteo Berrettini pulled out of the French Open due to an unspecific injury and is replaced by a happy loser in the main release, the organizers said on Thursday.

Playing in Roland-Garros begins on Sunday in the Grand Slam of the Clay Court.

The Italian was 28th place last week in the third round of the Italian Open against Casper Ruud.

Two weeks earlier, he withdrew from his game in the third round against Jack Draper in Madrid due to a belly injury.

Berrettini was the second of 2021 Wimbledon, but has been held back since then by nigic injuries.

Last year he retired on the eve of the tournament with a right foot injury from the Australian Open.

Two years ago he retired from the Italian to recover from a gastric muscle tear.
