The victims left an event in the Capital Jewish Museum when the suspect identified by the authorities as Elias Rodriguez (30) from Chicago approached their group and opened the fire, Pamela Smela Pamela Smith said on Wednesday at a press conference.

Rodriguez allegedly went up and down in front of the museum in front of the museum and then entered the building in which the event security held it, said Smith.

When he was taken into custody, the suspect sang “free, free Palestine,” said Smith. She said that the investigators do not believe that there is a continuing threat in the community.

The shootout occurred when Israel started a new large offensive in the middle of his ongoing war with the Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
