Formex updates the automatic watch watch with a smaller case for the Gen 2 version

When it debut in 2022, Formex's automatic field was an immediate hit. It was a titanium tool clock that was significantly over the price of $ 1,000 by balancing the useful toughness and Swiss mechanics. On the other hand, there was no visual sophistication that was found elsewhere in the brand's catalog. Formex corrects this deficiency and has just debut the 2nd generation of the field of the field, which still does everything that made the original so great.

From motorsport to military inspiration

The journey from Formex to Feld Watches was not exactly linear. The brand was founded in 1999 by the brothers Grädel in the Swiss Watch Making-Kernlande of Biel/Bee and built its reputation for the watches inspired by motorsport with their patented housing suspension system, which is essentially automotive shock absorption for their wrist. When Raphael Granito took over the helm in 2016, he expanded the ambitions of the brand and claimed to focus on technical innovations and accessible luxury.

Formex's first serious formex represents the first serious strain in militarily inspired area, trade suspension systems against sandwich dials and light titanium cases. It was a departure that made sense, since Field clocks demand the same robustness and precision as the world of automotive clocks, only with different aesthetic priorities.

Choose a copy without compromise

The most important update of the Gen 2 can be seen immediately on the dial, in which Formex introduced a two -part architecture that transforms the utilitarian aesthetics of the original into something more visual fascinating. The new design has an increased center of Sunburst, which is surrounded by a torn chapter ring, which creates depth and dimensionality that plays in a cool way with slight conditions. It is a step that brings the field closer to the visual language of Formex's essence and reef models without affecting the readability that the field watches should definitely have.

This new version replaces the range of the predecessor and debut in three new colors – ice blue, coho salmon and basalt gray. The blue and salmon variants offer black lume to get a better contrast, while the gray model with traditional white super luminova records.

Titan that actually works

While it decreases the size of 41 mm to 40 mm, Formex has not mixed up the housing material at all. The titanium housing of grade 2 also has the same 150 m water resistance and receives the proprietary hardening of the brand and increases the surface hardness of 145 to 900 Vickers (almost 3x harder than titanium in class 5). This is perfect for the category of the field clock and the clock makes scratch festivals and at the same time keeps the light, corrosion-resistant properties of Titans in particular at this price. In addition, the sandblasted finish has a robust look and develops a natural patina over time, with the skin chemistry of every wearer.

For the band, the new automatic field is either equipped with a nylon wing or a leather strap with a micon-adjustable carbon deeployment closure.

Reliable basis

The Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement housed in the titanium housing offers the mechanical backbone and keeps the costs low. We love the SW200-1 with its reliable workforse setup, even if there is no chronometer-certified precision. But this makes sense for a field clock.
