Astros places Ronel Blanco on the injured list while looking for a second opinion about the elbow

At the beginning of the 2025 season, the Houston Astros had many setbacks for injuries, especially with regard to pitchers with five starters that are currently on the injured list, including Spencer Arighetti and JP France.

Unfortunately, her luck of injury has not yet been completely resolved, since another of her most important rotation pieces lack the time.

According to a report by Brian McTaggart from MLB.com, Ronel Blanco will go to the injured list with elbow infections and look for a second opinion. The corresponding step is to remember Colton Gordon.

Blanco was an essential contribution to the Astros in 2024, started 29 of his 30 appearances and put together an ERA of 2.80 with a whip of 1.088. His campaign from 2025 has so far been less promising, since nine starts a 4.10-e-eer, 1.179 whip, 48 strikes up to 20 walks, seven homes and a 3-4 record.

Blanco reported elbow pain a few days ago. He will now obtain a second opinion about what the injury could be for him after the first analysis only resulted in inflammation.

This is an unfortunate injury to Houston, which is extremely short to start the pitching depth. You now have to get along with the remaining players, as you are still looking for a way to lose from this “win one”, to lose a series that you have driven throughout the season.
