Fatal crash on the Highway 101 stops the traffic near Haldsburg

The traffic delays will probably have an impact on the annual future agricultural fair & Twilight parade of the city, which, according to city officials, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

A fatal crash on the Highway 101 near Haldsburg on Thursday afternoon there was considerable traffic and large closures on the southern part of the highway, the officials said.

The crash, which was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., temporarily closed all lanes of the Highway 101 towards the south near the Dry Creek and Central Haldsburg on ramps and replaced all traffic through the city.

The crews were on site until shortly after 4:30 p.m. to clear the street.

All lanes were opened again shortly before 5 p.m., but according to the California Highway Patrol Verkehr Incident Page, there were considerable traffic delays.

A witness on site described the traffic of Haldsburg as a “standstill”.

The Haldsburg police refused to answer questions about the crash and addressed all questions to the CHP that could not be reached for a comment.

The traffic delays will probably have an impact on the annual future agricultural fair & Twilight parade of the city, which, according to city officials, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The mayor of Haldsburg, Chris Herrod, went to Facebook on Thursday, to confirm the death, and said that some law enforcement resources used for the parade are redirected to control traffic in connection with the crash.

No additional details on the cause of the crash or identity of the victim were available on Thursday evening.
