Lesbian woman who is looking for hate crimes after brutal attack at Carpentersville McDonald's

The public prosecutor considering hate crimes against two people who are accused of brutally jumping a lesbian woman in a McDonald's in the northwest of Suburban Carpentersville.

The 19 -year -old Katy Grass suffered a broken nose and a bleeding on her eye in the attack, which took place on May 13, when Grass family from Wisconsin visited, she said to Windy City Times.

Grass said she and her 13-year-old cousin had received meals at McDonald's food when grass went to the toilet. Both toilet stands were full, so she went out to stand by her cousin while waiting for the toilet to open.

Then, a boy called two men called Grass Af–T, said Grass.

“They followed me in front of the McDonald's, so I told my cousin that he should just be happy and give them no reason to speak to us,” said Grass.

But the boy always called homophobic unrest and there was an argument, she said. The boy then said Grass that he could take the argument “outside” and asked the grass to hand over her telephone and wallet of her cousin before going outside.

“You never got out, but my cousin heard how you talked about how you would kill me,” said Grass.

Grass joined the McDonald's again, and the boy rose her face and continued to harass her, she said. At that time, one of the adult men who were with the boy became closer to grass, as they argued. The third person in the group got out of the incident, said Grass.

“I pushed back the adult – not aggressive, more to get him out of my personal space,” said Grass. “And then he got back in the face and hit me.”

The man hit grass from the front while the boy attacked her from behind, said Grass. Finally, the McDonald's manager ran out of the bathroom and tried unsuccessfully to open the attack.

“I only remember the boy who pushes the manager and hits him to clear him out of the way,” said Grass. “Then the boy hit me directly and broke it, and I went to the ground and tried to find a way to protect more from my body. But the boy started stamping on my head.”

Grass was finally passed on to the consciousness after the attackers had gone, she said.

“I had handprint bruises over myself and bruises everywhere because they were kicked and showed up,” said Grass.

The Carpentersville police announced on May 17 that John Kammrad, 19, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested for crimes, including a severe battery that caused physical damage. The boy agreed to the authorities on May 16, while Kammrad was arrested a day later, the police said.

Grass said she was relieved, the two were arrested, but it fought to understand why they were not charged because of a hate crime.

“It all started because I look as I look and I am a lesbian who dates women instead of men,” said Grass. “I do not understand how hate crime fees did not happen when the entire argument was built on the battery fees because I am as I am.”

The lawyer of the state of Kane County, Jamie L. Mosser, made an explanation on May 21, in which she explains that her office is carrying out a review to determine whether additional accusations are appropriate for hate crime.

“The allegations involved here are deeply worrying. My thoughts are with Kady Grass and her family, and I want them to know that we will do everything within the law to blame those responsible,” said Mosser. “Kane County is an inviting community, and there is no place in a civilized society for alleged behavior in this case.”

In the meantime, Grass collects money through a Gofundme campaign to support their doctor bills and legal costs.
