Fortville MAN dies in an I-65 accident in Boone County

Crash investigators from Indiana State Police examine an accident in which a life on Interstate 65 in Boone County lived a life on Thursday morning.

At 8:39 a.m., a soldier came up with the consequences of a serious crash on the I-65 towards the south near the 149-mile marker south of the Clinton/Boone County line. The soldier applied for emergency aid and reported possible fatal injuries. The driver of a 2007 Ford was caught in the vehicle and did not react. Firefighters and paramedics arrived on site and despite life -saving efforts, Steven Gilretr. Jr., 36, Fortville, died at the crime scene.

No other injuries were reported in this crash.

Preliminary examinations by the state police crash reconstructors found that the traffic in the region was supported and had come to a standstill. The 2007 Ford hit the back end of a half -strtor stopped in the left lane.

The circumstances of this crash are still being examined and there is currently no further information. All lanes towards the south were closed for almost three hours, while the crash was examined and the wreck was removed.

The Indiana State Police was supported by the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Coroner of the Boone County and the Thorntown fire department.
