New limousine laws aim at safety after a fatal crash

A tragic limousine accident in Schoharia 2018, in which 20 people were killed, has led the legislator of New York legislators to implement strict safety regulations for stretch limousines.

The law, which was modified after January 2021, obliges security reviews, improved devices such as roll-over protection and safety belts for all passengers. In addition, drivers have to carry out commercial licenses for rental vehicles and pass drug and alcohol tests.

Stretching sedans of more than 10 years or 350,000 miles must be in retirement. The operators who do not meet these standards are exposed to fines to prevent future tragedies on streets in New York.
