Deleased Copyright Office boss Shira Pearl Mother sues Trump Administration: NPR

Shira Perlmutter, the dismissed head of the US copyright law, has sued the Trump administration and claims that its distance is “illegal and ineffective”.

The US copyright offices registers copyright claims and helps the congress on copyright guidelines. In 2020, Carla Hayden, then a librarian of the congress, appointed pearl nut as head of the office. At the beginning of this month, President Trump Hayden, whose 10-year term of office had expired next year, fired by email. A day later, Perlmother also received an e -mail in which her position was canceled.

Since then, President Trump has appointed Todd Blanche, the United States's deputy attorney in General, to be a temporary replacement of Hayden.

In a lawsuit submitted on Thursday, Perlmother argued that only the librarian of the congress had the authority to appoint and remove the copyright register, and that the president has “no authority” to name a temporary replacement librarian of the congress.

NPR has contacted the Ministry of Justice and the White House to get a comment.
