1 man killed, 2 injured in Woodbridge homeless stored – NBC4 Washington

One man died and two more are injured after being shot near a busy shopping center in a homeless camp in Woodbridge, the authorities say. A suspect from Fredericksburg was charged with murder.

The 911 calls came shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday by Prince William Square shopping center in the Smoketown Road. When the first aiders arrived, they found a man who was wounded in the leg and another goal in hand.

Deep in the forest, in an area sent with tents, they found that a third man was shot and wounded. He was declared dead on site. The other two men, both 42, were brought to hospitals for injuries that were not considered life -threatening.

The man who died was Tevon Dean Haskins from Woodbridge, said Prince William County's police. He was 29.

The 45 -year -old Dean Campbell from Fredericksburg was arrested a day later and charged with murder, malicious wounds and possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal.

The police say that the men had come into confrontation in the homeless camp, the argument escalated and Campbell opened the fire. The police announced News4, they do not know the source of the dispute, but say that the shootout is not accidental. It was not known whether the victims of the shootout lived in the forest or were in the area for other reasons.

Pastor Jesse Jones Jr. operates a Christian bookstore in the shopping center. He had already closed for the day when the shots started.

“I often see people who often go into the forest, but I thought they would go to the other side. I didn't notice that there were tents down there – not until today,” he said.

Jones said he was sorry to hear about violence that belongs so close to work and the purchase of people.

“We don't wear like us, and if we can change people's lives, we can save people's lives,” he said.

The alleged shooter was recorded without bond and has a court date.
