Neighbor reflects military training after a fatal aircraft crash

San Diego (KGTV)-is a place with streets that are named after known battles such as Yorktown, military groups like the Minuteman and what many are a patriot in this neighborhood.

“We are part of a military department. We are trained in certain aspects. If something happens in the community, we will react,” said Gilbert Gonzalez.

“We all trained on board ships, fire happens, we run for it,” said Josh Minster. “Just start helping as well as possible. It is what we do. It is what we do in the military.”

Gonzalez and Minster are both incredibly close to the fatal plane crash in Murphy Canyon in the US Navy and live incredibly close to the deadly plane crash on Thursday.

ABC 10News reported on their heroic efforts to end up in danger to help their neighbors.

For Gonzalez, neighbors brought it to safety.

“It is the more repeated training that we only go in motion and concentrate on what needs to be done,” said Gonzalez. “And in the second in which they start hearing people who cry for help, or, as they know, in the mass confusion that they only concentrate on one thing and make sure that people are safe.”

For Minster it hurried in to get fire out of the crash.

“Was we up there and tried to take care and maintain to prevent it from spreading?

First aiders heard of the trained people who lived here from Beyond-Neighborly Act and called it a bit like a miracle.

“I think every kind of background that you have behind you to help you stay calm in a stressful situation, just like the military, just like the San Diego PD or another public security that is out there, I think he helped,” said deputy chief Dan Eddy of San Diego Fire-Rescue. “And when we came into this neighborhood, they could see that. They could see love for each other in this neighborhood.”

They are heroes for some, although they may not be called one.

“We are not looking for recognition. We just try to take care of each other and make sure that we are all safe,” said Minster.

“I wouldn't call us heroes. But we only reacted from the day this morning,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez also gives military spouses like his wife that he is willing to act in the situation and to bring everyone to safety.
