Karnataka does not meet a public prosecutor's office against ex-KPSC officials about the 2011 scandal

The government of the state of Karnataka has officially decided to issue its persecution of legal measures against the officials of the former officials of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) The Hindu.

The cabinet on Thursday, May 22, decided not to apply for the necessary sanctions that are necessary to prosecute former KPSC chairman Gonal Bheemappa, together with nine other members of the Commission, which were exposed to accusations more than a decade ago for serious misconduct more than a decade ago.

The Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs HK Patil announced the decision to reporters and declared that the cabinet had decided to completely conclude law enforcement. The allegations were about extensive irregularities and manipulations in the 2011 recruitment process, which had triggered significant public demonstrations at that time.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had carried out a thorough examination of the alleged violations and reports reported evidence of procedural injuries and potential manipulation of the selection processes.

Since KPSC members take constitutional roles, criminal proceedings against them would have committed the prior approval of the constitutional authorities, including the governor and possibly the president under certain circumstances. Minister Patil stated that the decision of the cabinet was influenced by the fact that the accused had already completed his service and retired.

In 2021, the same cabinet made the decision to regulate the employment status of 48 civil servants who were discontinued during the controversial time.

During the same cabinet meeting, several other administrative decisions were made, including approval to improve the Hospital of the Sindhanur Taluk Hospital, by expanding the bed capacity from 100 to 200 at an estimated cost of 28.75 billion rupees. The cabinet also approved the increase in both the city administration of Malur and the City Council for the City Board of Directors in Maddur.
