“Unpredictable” man grabs another man's open weapon, kills him with it, says the police | Murders

One person is dead and another was taken into account after a shootout east of the city center of Las Vegas on Friday.

An “unpredictable” man took a weapon from a customer in a company in the 1200 block of the Charleston Boulevard to the Huntridge Theater and killed the customer, said Robert Price, Lt. Robert Price, the Metropolitan Police Department.

The call came on Friday shortly before 5 p.m., said Price. The identity of the victim and the man who was taken into custody near the scene had not been released by Friday evening.

“The suspect was custody without incidents,” said Price.

Price said the victim was “just open and transported” with a firearm and the suspect “grabbed the open firearm, which led to a fight.”

During the fight, said Price, the suspect was able to take possession of the weapon before he supposedly shot the customer and left the scene.

After the shootout, a large police presence was seen in the murder area. Attention was addressed to an auto zone business in 1201 E. Charleston as well as a nearby Mexican restaurant and a car repair workshop.

Ralph Bartley, a inhabitant of Las Vegas, who works as a security officer overnight in the area, watched from the other side of the street when the police worked in the scene on Friday at around 8 p.m.

He said he was not surprised by violence.

“It is getting worse here,” said Bartley. “I pulled a knife on me. I pay attention to who I confront now. You have to keep your head on a swivel.”
