The financial department for the HKust is offset by the examination scandal, over 100 students to retreat

May 24, 2025 – (Hong Kong) last night, professor at the Ministry of Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKust), informed the students by e -mail that an examination paper was “accidentally leaked” before the test. As a result, more than a hundred students have to take the exam back next Friday. Both the professor and the teaching assistant have sent e -mails that apologized, took responsibility and recognize upcoming disciplinary measures.

The Hkust Students' Editorial Board emphasized on social media that Professor Utpal Bhattacharya took over the students in FINA 3103 for classes L1 and L2, said the students about the fact that the final exam planned for Thursday was leaked through the test. After the discovery of some students, the examination was declared void what required a review for the entire student body the following Friday, May 30th. Bhattcharya described the incident as “the dark side of the final exams” and expressed repentance for the situation.

In addition, the editorial team referred to an e -mail from the teaching assistant of classes L1 and L2, which have approved full responsibility for the incident. In the e -mail, she explained that when sharing exam details such as seating agreements and locations on the online platform -canvas accidentally attached the examination paper. Although she immediately removed the appendix in realizing, she did not know that the platform kept all uploaded files in a separate “files” section and offered the students the opportunity to report the content of the exam. The teaching assistant put a deep regret and mentioned that she and the professor were confronted with disciplinary measures at the university.

According to the HKust course plan, Fina 3103 offers a total of 128 students.
