Mets Drop Series Opener to Dodgers in 13 Innerings (Highlights)

In a rain-soaked Friday evening in Citi Field, the New York Mets (30-21) showed up, but finally fell too short and despite a dramatic ninting-in-rally, a 7-5 heartbreaker fell into the Los Angeles Dodgers (32-19) in 13 Innerings.

In ninth place at three o'clock, the meters resolved the audience when Starling Marte and Pete Alonso reached the base to start the inning. Jeff McNeil provided a clutch of the clutch with two runs, and Tyrone Taylor followed with a playful single from Dodgers Closer Tanner Scott and forced extras.

Edwin Díaz worked in the 10th of a Houdini act and escaped from a bases that escaped at home and a double game with a force with a troop. In his half, however, New York could not push over a run and cut the runners in second and third place. Further missed opportunities followed in the 11th and 12th and Luis Torrens for a decisive double game to end one of them.

Brett Baty put the Mets on the board in the third with a solo homerun, and Alonso added a victim fly in the fourth thanks to an obstacle on Max Muncy.
