Massachusetts employees die at “alarming prices” at work

The number of workers who died in Massachusetts at work last year had dropped in the previous year, but the lawyers say that the rate is still “alarming”.

In the annual report of the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health (Masscosh) and the AFL-CIO MASSCHUSETS, 40 people are listed who died of traumatic injuries throughout the job in 2024 and eight firefighters who died of occupational diseases.

The report indicates that at least another 21 employees died of suicide or fatal drug overdoses.

In State House News Service reports: “In 2023, Massachusetts experienced 62 deaths at work, in addition to 43 suicide at the workplace and fatal overdoses.”

Masscosh and the AFL-CIO in Massachusetts ask the state's legislators to adopt regulations in order to blame employers for the security of the employees. The report indicates that the Trump administration represents its obligations for the security of employees and leads to dangerous conditions for workers.
