What we learned about San Diego's six aircraft sacrifices

A music talent day, two music booking assistants, a professional photographer, the former drummer of a metal band, and a software engineer died when a small plane fell into a quarter in San Diego in a foggy weather.

Dave Shapiro

The plane was registered with Dave Shapiro, who was licensed pilot and flight instructor. In addition to offering flight services with his company Velocity Aviation, he was a co -founder of a music representative company called Sound Talent Group.

His company's website says that it represents bands like Sum 41, Pierce The Veil and Vanessa Carlton. The company said it had offices in San Diego, New York and Nashville. He also had speed documents.

Dave was born in Albany, moved to San Diego and fell in love with Alaska, where he started in 2020.

Dave survives by his wife Julia, sister Jennifer and his beloved dogs Amigo, Juneau and Monster.

Kendall Fortner

According to her LinkedIn page, Kendall Fortner worked as a booking assistant for the sound talent group. She was also a graduate of the San Diego State University.

The Sound Talent Group announced this biography for Fortner on behalf of her family:

Since Kendall's father brought her to concerts at a young age, she was thrilled with music. From the Doo-Wop from the 1950s to classic rock, Green Day to Ed Sheeran, Kendall loved everything. She taught herself to play a variety of instruments, including the piano and guitar.

Kendall was born in Glendale, CA, and grew up in Santa Clarita. He visited the West Ranch High School before completing the San Diego State University with a degree in business in 2021. After Kendall was interned at the Sound Talent Group in college, he joined the company right after completing the conclusion as a booking employee.

Already in her teenage years, Kendall had shown interest in working on the business side of the music, and the job at STG was a perfect fit that showed her work ethic and her ability to plan tours and festivals nationwide.

Kendall was heavily independent and strong in will and was the life of the party and illuminated any room that she entered.

She is survived by her parents Gary and Kristin, her brother Jordan and his wife Kailey and her brother Justin, his wife Hannah and her son Theo.

Emma Huke

According to her LinkedIn page, Emma Huke also worked as a booking assistant for the sound talent group.

Emma was born and grew up in Orange County, California, and already knew at a young age that she wanted to work in the music industry. As an enthusiastic dancer, she was part of a national championship team at the Santa Margarita Catholic High School. After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2022, Emma completed several internships in the music industry with a degree in journalism before he came to a sound talent group as a booking employee in 2024.

There was nothing that Emma loved more than live music. She worked hard to save money to travel to concerts and festivals. And while she loved all music genres, her favorite artists were to see live, Taylor Swift and the 1975.

Emma also brought this passion for live music to her work. She was smart and organized and helped to plan to plan and promote her greatest tours. Customers and friends called Emma a nature violence, and it was a beautiful soul that brought everyone joy and light in their presence.

Emma is survived by her parents Tim and Allison and her younger siblings Ellis.

Daniel Williams

Daniel Williams was a long -time friend of Shapiro and the former drummer of the rock band The Devil Wears Prada. The band has published a message in memory of him and wrote: “No words. We owe you everything. Love yourself forever.“

Williams left the band in 2016 and worked as a software engineer for a large technology company.

According to other media reports, Williams survived a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio in 2019, and escaped without injury.

Dominic Damian

Dominic Damian was also friends with Shapiro for years. According to his LinkedIn page, he worked as a software engineer at the time of his death.

His social media pages also showed his passion for Jiu-Jitsu. The Pacific Beach Fitness studio, in which he participated, organizes a memory event for him at the Memorial Day.

Celina Kenyon

Celina Kenyon (36 years old) was taken by us on Thursday morning. Celina was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, partner and girlfriend.
