UISCE éireann reduces leaks and increases the water supply in Portlaw

As Summer is approaching, the Portlaw community can look forward to improved water quality and more reliable water supply Uisc Éireann completes two important upgrades and replaces over 2.7 kilometers of old and damaged water networks with new, modern whistles.

This work will also secure the city's water supply for the coming years and reduce the leaks considerably.

In the first stage of the works, 552 meters old network was replaced between Brown Street and Priest. It also included the decommissioning of 267 meters old networks, with the residents being replaced in the new watermain and lead services.

The second phase of the work included the exchange of 2.2 kilometers of water pipes along the Connolly Road, the Carrick Road and the Priest Road, including new water connections from public water to customer supply.

Emphasis on the importance of these upgrades, Dave Murphy, program manager at Uisc Éireann said: “We are pleased to have completed the work that is now going to go to houses and companies in Portlaw.

“These essential improvements in the networks will improve water quality, reduce leaks and eliminate the challenges in connection with old water shows, which leads to a positive impact on the leak and daily life of Portlaw's residents.”
This project was delivered as part of Uisc The national program for reducing leaks from Éireann, which continues to offer the municipalities all over Ireland significant advantages, including improved water quality, the provision of more resistant and sustainable water supply for customers and considerable water savings.
