Michael van Gerwen has announced that he and his wife Daphne separated Govers sadly.

The 36-year-old darts sensation was supposed to take part in the Dutch Darts Championship of Elden Safety on Saturday evening, but ultimately withdrew from his first round with Mickey Mansell and gave the Northern Irishman a goodbye. And when PDC van Gerwen's withdrawal from the tournament announced, the Dutch quickly explained his argument when he prepared for a short break from sport.

In an explanation, he said: “It is with great sadness that Daphne and I decided to end our relationship. As a result, I decided to withdraw from the upcoming tournaments.

“I'm sorry to disappoint my fans, but I trust that they will understand my decision. We are facing a difficult time and ask everyone to respect our privacy during this time.”

Van Gerwen and Daphne began in 2008, before they came for life in 2014 and greeted two children in Zoe and Mike together. After 11 years of marriage, the two now separate paths will go.

After Nathan Aspinall noticed a change in his opponent on Thursday evening during her collision in the Premier League quarter-finals in Sheffield.

Aspinall needed a victory over van Gerwen to ensure that he would be for the final at London O2, while MVG had to beat the ASP and win all night to take fourth place in the tournament.

In a remarkable way, Aspinall was able to develop a comfortable 6-2 victory against the three-time world champion, who looked down when he stepped onto the oche.

And Aspinall discovered that Van Gerwen was out of one or the other reason at night and told Sky Sports: “There was a lot of emotions after it went off the stage.

“I had to take away. I spoke so much about Michael all week and win this evening.

“I don't know what's going on, but he didn't look again. He even gave up on this stage.”

In the meantime, van Gerwen's close friend, Vincent van der Voort, told the performance: “I don't see anyone who wants to win at all costs. [Luke] Little and [Luke] Humphries are really not better, but at the moment they are.

“He shouldn't accept that.” As a result of the device, Aspinall will compete in the final night with Humphries in O2, while Littler competes against Gerwyn Price.
