“Certificate scandal”: Court is adjourished to an accelerated hearing for an indefinite period while the lawyer is requesting an accelerated hearing

The planned indictment of Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), could not be held on Friday, as the matter before an FCT court in Gwagwalada was subjected to a judicial review.

The matter that is currently present before the Chief Magistrat Abdullahi Ilela from the Dutse Magistrate 'Court has now (indefinite times) adjointed sine (indefinitely) until the result of the above is taken.

Maikalängu, remembers, will be suspended before an accusation for counterfeiting certificates.

Maikalangu, a defendant in the marked CR/DUT/324/25, was elected in 2022 as chairman of the local government on the platform of the leading opposition party Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In the re -admission processes, the complainant's legal advisor Job Peter Israel informed the court that the matter was mentioned and that it was ready.

In his arguments, however, the defendant's lawyer, Charles Okoye, did not obtain any objections, but quoted that the matter was exposed to a judicial review before Justice Aliyu Yinusa Shafffa from the FCT High Court said that the standard decision had been delivered to court.

He then prayed the court to allow the matter to comply with the judicial review of the review.

He also informed the court that efforts were made to serve the complainant, and added: “We are restrictions to fulfill the complainant for the order, but his contact was not available”.

Israel, who did not obtain an objection, admitted that his client is bound to the same due to the arrangement of the High Court, but was prayed for an accelerated hearing.

In a brief decision, the presidental magistrate Ilela stated: “This matter is hereby adjourned to die until the result of the judicial review.”

AMAC is the local government, which houses the Nigeria power seat in the federal capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
