2025 Monaco Grand Prix Qualifying Report and Highlights: Lando Norris beats Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piatri with Last Gasp round in the qualification thriller from Monaco GP on pole

Q2 – Norris takes a step, tire strategies differ

After a short break, the drivers at the end of the pit lane were once again at the beginning of the second quarter, in which Leclerc, Albon, Hamilton, Sainz and Russell tried something else by moving in Q1 to the yellow medium-sized tire alps.

Soft-Shod Norris was the early speed at 1 m 10.959 and placed it slightly before Verstappen, Leclerc and Albon, but Russell's hopes to join them, when he lost the power supply, lost a standstill in the tunnel and triggered another red flag.

After Russell's car was clarified and the session was covered, the drivers had about eight minutes to get more rounds – Albon, Alonso and Sainz continued to press the media, while Ferrari couple Leclerc and Hamilton switched to Softs and jumped forward.

Another crazy dashboard to the flag saw Norris over a 1m 10.570s, from Leclerc, Albon (who switched late to Softs to Softs to Softs), Piatri, Verstappen and Hamilton, while both racing bulls, Alonso (who was standing up with these media) and an ecstatic ocon.

Like Albon, Sainz took on Softs for his last run, but could not improve, and complained that on the way to P11 he had “no grip” with the red-marked tire, followed by another disappointed Q2-Eliminee in Tsunoda, Hulkenberg and the Sidelined Mercedes driver.

Struck: Sainz, Tsunoda, Hulkenberg, Russell, Antonelli
