Cora: Bregmans Quad injury felt “worse” than expected, IL stint possible

Boston (AP) – Red Sox's third Baseman, Alex Bregman, could approach a trip to the injured list after leaving the games on Friday with the right quadriceps slogan, said manager Alex Cora.

“He gets an MRI. He is sore,” said Cora on Saturday morning in Fenway Park, before Boston was to play against the Baltimore Orioles in the first game of a shared double header.

“We'll see where he is,” said Cora, before we later added that Bregman said it was “worse” than expected.

When it comes to the question of whether a stay on the IL could come, Cora said: “I don't want to start in conclusions, but yes.”

If Bregman has to go to the IL, who will play third place?

Cora said the plan was that the team was “mixing” and replied to “No” when he was asked whether Rafael -Devers could be in direct plans.

“There are many people talking,” said Cora. “Squad building comes into play, boys in the small leagues, how they fit the squad – all of the stuff.”

Could Devers be in the mix at some point?

“We made a decision in the low season and we're going here,” said Cora without completely closing the door. “There are a few things we took into account and I think we were very consistent with it.

“I will not react to the outside world because (you) think that's the right step. Maybe it's not, isn't it? Maybe we'll do it right? Maybe we are doing it wrong?”

At the beginning of this month, Devers informed the Red Sox that he did not move to play the first basis. The DH was red recently, after collecting a career -s) eight RBIs in a one -sided victory over the Orioles on Friday afternoon.

“I know the guy. He's harking. He's the best DH in the American League,” said Cora. “If he continues to do so, he will be a silver racket as a DH in the all-star game. We go here. We will continue to talk. I will continue to talk. I will not say that we will close the door.”

Boston already lost a corner information for the season when the first Baseman Triston Casas broke a tendon in his left knee and had an operation at the end of the season. The loss of Bregman could be a big blow for a line -up that sometimes has to struggle.

“We will be fine. Obviously, it is a large part of our crime,” said Cora. “Triston is a large part of our offensive. We only have to find one way to achieve runs in a different way, and we are prepared for it.”

Devers, the team's third Baseman for eight seasons, was relocated to DH after Bregman had signed a three-year contract of $ 120 million as Free Agent and received the job. After a slow start on the plate, the devers has heated up and beats with 12 Homern and 47 RBIs .299.
