First quarter

Syracuse wins the opening possession as a light rain here in Foxborough.

foreplay

Syracuse (13-5) and Maryland (13-3) meet for the second time this season. On February 15, the Terrapins beat the orange in College Park 11: 7.

Maryland beat Syracuse in seven games in a row and returned to the NCAA quarter -finals in 2011. Syracuse recently defeated Maryland in the NCAA quarter -finals 2009.

But the orange is 3-0 in Rematch-Games-Sie this season, Notre Dame and Duke defeated in the Acc-tournament and Harvard in the NCAA tournament. Harvard and Duke defeated both Syracus during the regular season.

Maryland's business card is his defense. This season, the TERPS only allowed three -digit goals in one game this season, thanks to a defense that only allowed 7.8 goals per game, second in the country. The goalkeeper Logan McNaney will play 73rd career game for Maryland on Saturday and was a central part of the unbeaten National Championship season 2022 in Maryland.

Maryland was the only team in the country that played a harder schedule as a Syracus this year. It has six top 10 victories, but two of his three defeats came against Michigan and Rutgers, none of which ended with profit records or did the NCAA tournament.

Maryland defeated the Air Force 13-5 and Georgetown 9: 6 to reach its ninth finals in the last 11 NCAA tournaments and 30.

Syracuse defeated Harvard with 13-12 in overtime and Princeton 19-18 and reached his first final Four since 2013 and the 28th all times, the third most common behind Maryland and Johns Hopkins (29).

Gillette Stadium was also the place of the recent national title of Syracuse when the orange defeated Cornell with 10: 9 in the extension.

Three important players for the orange are less than an hour from Foxborough. The goalkeeper Jimmy McCool comes from Boston. The defensive midfielder Carter Rice from Boston comes from Milton and the specialist from Facoff, John Mullen, comes from Norwell.

This season, the Orange joined high expectations and second place in the pre -season survey by Inside Lacrosse after a quarter -finals of the NCAA tournament last year. Syracuse easily won his first three games of the season before losing successes against Maryland and Harvard in mid-February.

The orange then won six times in a row to set up a top five meeting with Cornell No. 1. But it lost this matchup and then dropped games against Duke and North Carolina to close the regular season in the NCAA tournament bubble before winning his first ACC tournament since 2016.
