Tragedy as two drivers who were killed on the same day with separate motorsport races

Two drivers died on Saturday at the races of Motorsport UK in separate accidents.

Dai Roberts, a 39-year-old passenger, died at the crime scene during the Jim Clark rally in Scotland. The 27 -year -old driver James Williams was taken to the hospital at the Royal Attorney at Edinburgh with serious injuries.

The Jim Clark rally, named after the Scottish Formula 1 champion, is an annual motorsport race in the Scottish borders.

In an explanation, Motorsport UK Mr. Roberts' family and friends as well as Jim Clark Rally, Jim Clark Memorial Motor Club and the members of Motorsport community offered his condolences.

“Motorsport UK has initiated a complete investigation of the circumstances of the incident and will work closely with the organizers of Jim Clark Rally Event and the Jim Clark Memorial Motor Club and work with the responsible authorities.”

Vincent Fisher, police superintendent in Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are with the man's family who died, and the inquiries have not yet been completed to determine the full circumstances.”

The Jim Clark rally was stopped after the death of three people in 2014 and canceled later. Since then it has been set again in the British racing calendar.

The younger brother of Mr. Roberts, Gareth, died at the age of 24 after a racing accident in Palermo, Italy, in 2012.

The Jim Clark Memorial Motor Club said that they had made the decision to cancel the rest of the event and the Jim Clark Reivers Rally on Sunday.

Motorsport UK also announced Julian Grimwade's death, a competitor to the racing organizer of the Vintage Sports Car Club on Saturday in Donington Park.

The organization said: “Motorsport UK excludes the entire British motorsport community in grief and sends out the sincere condolences to the family, friends and relatives of Julian and the Vintage Sport Car Club.

“As with all serious incidents, Motorsport UK will carry out an investigation of the matter and work with the responsible external authorities.”
