Boat explosion on NYCS Hudson River kills City Dep workers

An explosion on board a boat that was created on the Hudson River in New York killed a city worker and injured at least one more on Saturday.

Three employees of the Ministry of Environmental Protection were working on the ship, which was docked in West Harlem in the North River Wastwasser resource resource resource resource facility when the explosion occurred, a city official told CBS News New York.

Several first aid units reacted to the scene. The video has recorded heavy black smoke that weighed in the air.

NYC worker dies in the boat explosion

A DEP employee was declared dead at the scene of the explosion at around 10:30 a.m. along the Hudson River near the 135th Street in Manhattan. A second worker was taken to the hospital. A third refused treatment at the scene.

Dep Commissioner Rohit T. Aggarwala said in a statement that the worker killed served the city for more than three decades.

“The entire Dep family mourns today,” said Aggarwala and added, “he was an esteemed and experienced member of the Bureau of Wasterwater Treatment, and his decades of services reflect his commitment to Deps Mission.”

“I am destroyed by the tragic death of a committed environment of environmental protection that has lost his life today when he worked on a boat in one of the sewage resources -recovery facilities. This devotable public servant gave into service 33 years.

“At this point there is no suspicion of crime and no influence on the facility. The security and well -being of the workforce of our city and all New York always have our top priority, and we are committed to fully supported and ensure that every possible measure is taken to prevent such tragedies in the future,” added Adams.

Cause of the examined explosion cause

While the cause of the accident is being examined, there seems to be no effect on the environment at this point, the official said.

The coast guard said in a post on social media that no pollution was reported after the explosion and that the crews are still on site.

The operations of the work were not affected, officials said.
