The uncle of man arrested for murder; Court applications Detailed examinations

Almost four years after a Willard man was reported missing, his body was discovered months later. His uncle was charged and arrested on May 19 for his alleged murder.

Russell Long from Willard was reported missing in April 2021, although he was last seen by family members at the end of March. On June 4, 2021, employees of Highway Highway Highway Highway Human found leftovers near the Farm Road 59 and the Farm Road 94 in Bois d'Arc. The GCSO identified those as Russell Long, who was 39 years old at that time.

Only a few progress in relation to the case has been publicly announced for four years. Now court documents show what led to Russell Longs uncle, Bruce Long, and the main suspect became the murder of his nephew.

Russell's truck found at Uncle

Russell Long was most recently seen by his parents, with whom he lived in Walnut Grove on March 31, 2021. The parents left their home around 8 p.m. and when they returned later that evening, Russell Long was not there after the explanation of the likely cause submitted in the Greene County Circuit Court.

The following day Russell Long's mother of Bruce “Nathan” drove Longs Haus in Willard and watched Russell's blue Chevrolet truck in the driveway. According to the document, Russell occasionally visited his uncle and helped him with strange jobs on the property.

On April 4, 2021, Russell Long's mother contacted the authorities after having not seen her son for several days. The MPs reacted to Bruce Longs Residence, where they report on his nephew's truck in the field behind the house with rolled windows and the key inside. In the probability declaration it says that Bruce Long told the investigators that his nephew Russell had parked the truck on the field and then left it back with a friend “in an unknown vehicle”. A few days later, Russell's mother submitted a suspicious report that did not receive a word from her son.

On April 11, 2021, a deputy carried out a passage of Bruce Longs House and found that the house had a significant renovation. Bruce Long told the deputy that his nephew had asked to leave his truck on the field and went to the entrance. According to the document, Bruce Long later said that he later saw a vehicle on the street, provided that Russell had left for a long time, but he couldn't remember details about the vehicle.

Neighbors notice curiosities

The deputies led interviews with neighbors next to the plot of Bruce Long. The neighbor in the east reported that they had been in front of the outdoor area two weeks earlier at 3 a.m. and heard a male voice from afar “Oh (explosive)! It's not good, that's not good.”

Another neighbor in the west reported on April 18, 2021 to watch Bruce Long Ashes in his field from a pan. The same neighbor informed the investigators that they burned Long something “with an unusually large flame” about three weeks earlier. According to the neighbor, it was unusual to burn on its property, and it stood out particularly due to the large size of the flames that burned for several hours.

The MPs received records from Crete/Schaffer Trucking, where Bruce Long worked as a truck driver, who confirmed that on March 30th to April 3, 2021, he was outside the service. During a formal interview in the Sheriff office of the Greene County's Office, Bruce Long was supposedly caught in the lie when he long since conflict on March 31.

The investigators then received a search order and searched by Bruce Longs House. With a blood detection agent, the investigators found a substance on the handle of a bleaching bottle in the washroom and collected a DNA swab. The first laboratory results confirmed the presence of blood of two or more people. The following day, a polygraphent test was carried out on Bruce Long, according to the likely cause explanation, although it does not contain any further information about the results.

Bruce Long initially contested a little further about Russell's disappearance during the interview after the exam, said the explanation, but later said his nephew told him that he would go to Walnut Grove and then go to Stockton, but not that this would be revealed.

Detective also searched for Bruce 'cell phone recordings, which, according to the likely instructions, showed 15 language calls and two text messages between Bruce and his brother Jeffrey Long on March 31. Seven of these calls occurred within an hour between 8:02 a.m. and 9:12 p.m., while another call was longer at 11:48 a.m. After the court was submitted, this was a “significant increase” of the typical communication of the two brothers.

During a further search for Bruce's property, the law enforcement authorities collected the metal end of a 12-gauge shotgun in a bunch of burned debris.

Autopsy reveals shotgun wounds

When the motorway clerk discovered the remains of Russell Long on June 4, 2021, they were wrapped in a tarpaulin that was connected to a rope and was located in a ditch near the intersection in Bois d'Arc. This was about four miles from Bruce Longs Residence.

An autopsy from the Greene County medical examiner found that death was a murder and was caused by a shotgun. The examiner found a shotgun on the upper body and numerous shotgun pellets on the left side of Russell Longs Breast with additional pellets in the areas of the right chest and lower neck.

During a third search for Bruce Long's house, Detective collected two unopened cable packages, which matched the laboratory results found with the type of rope with which the tarpaulin was bound around the body. The deputies also confiscated several shotguns and ammunition. While an empty box was found for a brown shotgun, the shotgun itself was not available.

“In a business that is located on the property, detectives found a tarpaulin bound with rope in a way that corresponds to the tarpaulin associated with Russell's remains,” was the likely cause explanation. “The placement of the rope on both tarps and the knot structure was different and not the exaggerating node pattern.”

Alleged confession to brother

The brother of Bruce Long, Jeffrey Long, was interviewed on June 29, 2021 and a polygraph test was carried out. During the interview, Jeffrey allegedly told Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper, he thought his brother had “done” and remembered that Bruce Long with David Long, Russell Long's brother, during the visit and said he was guilty of killing his nephew.

Jeffrey Long told the law enforcement authorities after court acts that Bruce Long told him that he didn't want to hurt him and that the two men had drunk when they had come into a fight. Bruce supposedly told Jeffrey Long that Russell Long fell while the two fell, fell and hit his head on a rock and did not breathe.

During another interview in September 2021, Jeffrey Long said that he asked Bruce Long why he did not call the police when Russell's death was an accident to answer that he was afraid. According to the document, Jeffrey Long had asked to hear what happened, to which Bruce Long said they were “came to her,” he hit Russell Long and accidentally killed him.

In the probable cause it is emphasized that testimony indicates that Bruce Long has an anamnesis of drug abuse and is often violent when it is intoxicated. Several family members stated that they were aware of a previous physical argument between Russell Long and his uncle.

Derek James, public information officer of the GCSO, said in an e -mail that some of the DNA tests in the State Lab could not be carried out, and the office prompted to use a private laboratory to carry out specific DNA tests in the event. He said all the results took time and collected enough information to present the case.

Genetic Technologies, Inc. found that the blood consisted of around 85% of the DNA of Russell Long and 15% Bruce Longs DNA on the bleaching bottle in Bruce Long's laundry room.

The proportion of arrest warrant information of the likely cause indicates that Bruce Long was often not available during the examination without answering or returning telephone calls and staying away from his residence for longer. The document also finds that he had changed his constant mailing address to a mailbox and had no longer returned to his residence.

For these reasons and due to the serious nature of the indictment, Bruce Long is held in the Greene County prison without bond after the arrest in Clarke County, Iowa. He is charged with the second degree murder, to which he was not guilty after the submissions of Casenet on his indictment on May 21.
