Russian strikes kill eight in Ukraine, say officials, say officials

At least eight people were killed in Ukraine in the Ukrainian Russian drone and missile attacks and more than 30 injured, said regional officials.

Four deaths were reported in the Ukrainian region of Western Khmelytskyi. In the Kyiv region, three further deaths and mycolaiv were reported in the southern city.

It comes a day after Kyiv has suffered one of the most severe attacks since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that its air defense units had shot down or intercepted 95 Ukrainian drones in a series of Russian regions, including Moscow, during a four -hour period on Saturday evening. No victims were reported.

The drone attack forced all flights on the airports of Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin started a complete invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and Moscow is currently checking about 20% of the Ukrainian territory.

This includes the Crimea – the southern Peninsula of Ukraine 2014.

Kyiv Regional Head Mykola Kalashhnyk said three people were killed and 10 more injured.

He posted on social media photos of several houses that put on fire after the Russian strikes.

In the capital Kyiv, local officials reported 11 injuries, several fires and damage to residential buildings, including a dormitory.

Hundreds of people were protected in underground stations of the city's U -Bahn. It comes when the capital marks its annual holiday in Kyiv Day on Sunday.

In Mykolaiv, the Ukrainian emergency service DSNS said that the body of an older man was pulled out of a five -story residential building, which was hit by a drone. Another five people were injured.

In Kharkiv, the regional authorities reported three injuries.

In Russia, the Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian drones aimed at eight Russian regions.

“From 8:00 p.m. Moscow Zeit (5:00 p.m. GMT) on May 24 to 00:00 on May 25th destroyed and intercepted air defense units that have taken unmanned Ukrainian Aircraft aircraft,” said the ministry in a statement.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, reported that 12 drones that drove into the capital to the capital were shot down.
