Kelsea Ballerini calls Taylor Swift her “Nordstern” for life

Kelsea Ballerini has just opened up on the sustainable impact that Taylor Swift had on her life and career and she described a “north star” on her journey.

The 31-year-old Country pop sensation always looked up too Taylor, which she attributed to the tour in a world in which the young singer-songwriter was rare in country music.

In an interview with Variety, Kelsea shared a crucial moment at the beginning of her career when a music manager said to her: “Well, there is already a Taylor Swift.” While it was a tough reality, Kelsea admits that it wasn't wrong. At that time, Taylor was the face of Country pop and the only artist in this room that really made waves. For Kelsea, this moment was a turning point that urged her to find her own unique voice.

“As an artist and songwriter, I had to grow into my own identity,” considered Kelsea. “I had to learn to differentiate myself.” Despite the pressure to step in Taylor's footsteps, Kelsea focused on working out her own way and still appreciating Taylor as a constant source of inspiration.

Kelsea and Taylor's friendship blossomed after Taylor Kelsea's Breakout hit praised: “I love myself as you mean.” The two even played the song together on Taylor's 1989 World Tour in Nashville in 2015 and strengthened their bond.

When it comes to the best advice that Taylor has ever given, Kelsea revealed in an earlier interview with the NBC Sunday with Willie Geist: “She said: 'You have to be undeniably. Whatever that means for you, whatever that looks like. Then nobody can tell you no? She only, she pivot.” These words have adhered to Kelsea and shaped their approach to their career and art.

Through all of this, Taylor has remained a guiding light for Kelsea, and while she has worked hard to establish her own identity, it is clear that the bond between these two stars is unbreakable. Even now when Kelsea continues to build her career, Taylor is still the “Nordstern”, which she looks at according to instructions and inspiration.
