Woman beat and killed by two vehicles on Interstate 70

An independence woman was killed early Saturday morning after he was hit by two vehicles when he walked the Interstate 70 in Jackson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on May 24th at 5:04 a.m. near the 21.8-mile brand of Interstate 70. A 42-year-old woman from independence went on the Interstate when a 48-year-old man from Odessa was driven by Odessa. After the first impact, she was again met by a Dodge Ram 2016 driven by a 39-year-old man from Grain Valley.

The woman was declared dead at 5:10 a.m. at the crime scene by paramedics Brazil. Her body was transported by Jackson County's medical examiner.

The Mazda CX-5 suffered extensive damage and was towed by Jackson County Tow. The Dodge Ram was not damaged and driven by the scene. Both drivers wore seat belts.

The Blue Springs Police Department and several soldiers supported the Highway Patrol at the scene. The patrol found that this was the 26th fatal crash and the 29th traffic arrest of the year in the region of troops A.
