Red Sox 'important Alex Bregman injury -update darkens the mood in Boston

The Boston Red Sox flew up for about 15 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after the news was broken that the top-infield prospect was Marcelo Mayer on the way to join the Red Sox for the second game of her double header, Hitter Rafael-Devers, designated with Red-Hot, hit a single-off single in the 10th Inning against the Baltimore Orioles, which ride the Red Sox over 0.500 with 27-26 trips.

However, the reason for Mayer who came up was not good. The star of Star third Baseman Alex Bregman, who was on the right track to start the all-star game for the American League, dealt with a right quad injury, which seemed to be sending him to the injured list.

Minners in the Fenway Park's celebration on the diamond in Fenway Park, manager Alex Cora published an injury update via Bregman. And it wasn't pretty.

According to Christopher Smith from Masslive, Cora said that Bregman had to deal with a “significant” quad burden, similar to the one who missed him for two months in 2021. Bregman had an MRI this morning after expecting more pain when he expected when he woke up.

The 31-year-old Bregman lowered .299/.385/.553 in 51 games and collected a team high 3.0 bwar. It is not foreseeable where they were up to this point without him, and many different people will make great efforts to compensate for the lack of production in its absence.

The question of Bregman's opt-out must also be taken into account. He looked like a castle to reject his 40 million dollar in 2026 and to meet free agency for the second low season in a row. But depending on how much time he misses and what he looks like when he returns, this calculation could change.

At the moment the Red Sox says that Mayer will play “All over the Infield” from The Athletic. It will be part of the plan on the third basis, it seems, together with Nick Sogard and possibly Romy González, when he comes back from a rehab.

The Bregman News will certainly be researched part of the initial excitement regarding Mayer's arrival. But the 22-year-old still has the chance to give this Boston team a shot in her arms, starting with the second game of the Doubleader at 6.35 p.m.
