Donald Trump attacks Harvard. Again

Washington:

US President Donald Trump defended the move of his government to block the ability of his Harvard University to record international students after a judge suspended the measures. Trump went to his social platform of truth on Sunday and claimed that almost 31 percent of the students in Harvard studied from abroad come from abroad to whom some are not friendly with the USA-and the university administration will not come to these students despite repeated inquiries from his administration.

“Why does Harvard not say that almost 31% of her students come from foreign countries and these countries, some not at all in a friendly manner to the United States, do not pay anything for the training of their student, and they don't want to intend to us either. Nobody told us,” said Trump.

“We would like to know who these foreign students are, a reasonable request because we give Harvard billions of dollars, but Harvard is not exactly the right thing. We want these names and countries. Harvard has 52,000,000 US dollars, use it and no longer asks the federal government to continue to grant them money,” he added.

After a federal judge had temporarily held back the step of the Trump government to block foreign students in Harvard on Friday, a policy that was imposed on the elite institution the day before that questioned the future of thousands of students and the lucrative income streams.

Homeland -Security -Secretary, who said goodbye to the secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday, also forced the current foreign students to switch to other schools or to lose their legal status while threatening to expand the procedure to other colleges. Noem accused the university of “violence, anti -Semitism and coordination with the Communist Party of the Chinese Party”.

Harvard said that the move of the Trump government, which affects thousands of students, was illegal and presented the retaliation and the Trump government sued “the arbitrary, moody, illegal and unconstitutional act to stop”.

Trump's procedure against universities

The decision of the Trump government was an important escalation of the Trump government campaign against Elite Ivy League University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which turned out to be one of Trump's best -known institutional goals.

Trump, a Republican, took up an office in January and promised a far -reaching approach to immigration. His administration tried to revoke student visa and green cards from foreign students who have participated in pro-Palestinian protests. He has made extraordinary efforts to reorganize private universities and schools in the United States, and claimed that they promote anti -American, Marxist and “radical” left -wing ideologies. He criticized Harvard for having hired prominent democrats for teaching or leading positions.

In Harvard, the government has threatened to set 9 billion US dollars for the review, and then entered a first tranche of 2.2 billion US dollar scholarships and $ 60 million of official contracts. A researcher of the Harvard Medical School has also taken off for deportation.

Foreign students in Harvard

Harvard is the richest US university with a foundation worth $ 53.2 billion in 2024. In the school year 2024-2025, almost 6,800 international students were enrolled, which according to university statistics corresponds to 27 percent of its total registration.

In 2022, the Chinese citizens were the largest group of foreign students with 1,016, as the university figures showed. After that there were students from Canada, India, South Korea, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Japan.

The loss of foreigners – more than a quarter of his student body – could prove to be expensive for Harvard, which calculates tens of thousands of dollars per year in the tuition fees.
