YouTube insists Disney and triggers a lawsuit against the video service

YouTube posted the long-time Walt Disney Co. Manager Justin Connolly as the world's leading leader of media and sport and triggers a lawsuit against the Google video service.

On Thursday, Disney submitted a lawsuit against YouTube before the State Court in Los Angeles to stop the appointment, a breach of contract, interference in a contractual relationship and unfair competition. In the complaint, Disney said that Connolly signed a new three -year contract in November 2024, which contained a unique right to termination in March 2027. The company applies for preliminary and permanent systems.

Connolly competes in a new position in which he blames the relationships between the service to large media companies, including those who deliver the YouTube TV, the cable-like online subscription video service. According to a memo on Thursday by Mary Ellen Coe, the Chief Business Officer from YouTube, he will also be responsible for the company's growing live sports portfolio.

Neither YouTube nor Connolly answered inquiries about comments.

YouTube, the most viewed online video service, has expanded from a home for user-generated content to a multi-purpose entertainment center in recent years that offers premium streaming services, live TV, music and podcasts. It is the exclusive home of the NFL Sunday ticket and has sole rights to stream a week from Sao Paulo on September 5th.

Google's video department generated advertising sales of around 36 billion US dollars last year and makes more TV ads than any other network or streaming service. The AD turnover almost corresponds to the combined AD sale of Disney, Paramount Global, Fox Corp. and nbcuniversal.

Connolly will serve as an emissary between YouTube and the world of traditional media and entertainment. He has spent the last over 20 years of working in Disney and ESPN, most recently as Disney's head of the platform distribution. He licensed Disney's TV networks to providers such as YouTube TV as well as his television programs and films for streaming services.

Connolly leaves the home of Mickey Mouse and Marvel, shortly before the company introduces its new ESPN Streaming Service, and before negotiations with YouTube TV for its live TV networks.

The case is Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution LLC against YouTube LLC, 25stcv14929, California Superior Court, Los Angeles County (Central District).
