The Alex Bregman from Red Sox has a significant quad injury, becomes a while, “says Cora

After Boston Red Sox left the third Baseman Alex Bregman on Friday in the third inning, he was put on the injured list and was able to miss a longer period of time.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters after the first game of a double head against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday that Bregman has an “significant” injury. He added that the veteran “will be outside for a while”.

Bregman also said reporters that the injury was “quite serious” and there is no schedule for how long it could be.

After Cora has confirmed, the news comes that Bregman would have done the imaging on Saturday to determine the extent of the injury.

Cora also noticed that Rafael Devers probably did not take over on the third basis when Bregman goes to the injured list, and the SHORTSTOP -prospect Marcelo Mayer has been appointed by the team since then.

Bregman's injury occurred when he drove the Orioles Pitcher Cade Povich and took a large base around the first basis before returning into his pocket. He signaled a trainer and almost immediately went from the field to the changing room.

The Orioles and Red Sox were supposed to play a Doublehead on Friday, but the second game was rained. They postponed it for Saturday, with Boston playing the first game 6: 5 in additional innings.

Bregman told reporters after the game on Friday that he felt “so far” good, but after a night they would learn more to see how his quad would react:

“Obviously it is only day after day. I have the feeling that we will know a lot more tomorrow after sleeping after we can see and see how it is presented in the morning. But my whole strength is still there at the moment.

When Bregman described the injury, he continued to have a quad injury with the Houston astros during the 2021 season, which felt “much worse” than this. He spent more than two months with the IL due to this injury.

Losing Bregman for a long time is a big blow to set up Boston. He meets .299/.385/.553 and is second in the team with 11 Homers in 51 games.

Eric Sogard begins in the first game of the Doubleader on Saturday in the third base. Mayer, who is interested in Boston's farm system that comes in 2025, achieved with nine Homern in 43 games at Triple-A .271/.347/.471.
