The 14-year-old fan thanks Rock Band after the family survived the crash

GoodView, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) – A Virginia family writes a concert that was set up by the rock band Metallica to save her when a driver hit his house and plowed directly into his living room.

Madeline “Maddie” Mckees love for Metallica started early, she said to WDBJ.

“My father always heard it when I was younger, and when the 'Stranger Things' season four came out, Eddie 'Master of Puppets' played. It was mainly when it started much more for me,” said the 14-year-old.

Madeline wanted to see nothing more than Metallica Live, and she thought her dream would be about to see tickets for the band's show on May 7th in the Lane Stadium in Blacksburg after her family.

But on the day of the concert, a driver slammed into the family's house at 2 a.m. and plowed directly into the living room.

Usually the parents of Madeline had watched in the living room at that time, but that night they decided to meet the sack early to prepare for Metallica the next day, a decision that may have saved her life.

“'Do you want to sit on?' And he said: “No, I think I'll just go to bed and I said:” Ok, I'll go to bed too, “said Madeline's mother Kristin McKee. “Then, just a few hours later, we heard a loud explosion, shell of the glass, and it was just amazing from that time.”

Although the McKes did not make it to the Metallica concert, the family said that the show was life -saving because it brought them in the right place at the right time.

“We were lucky. That night my daughter would have passed this hallway and found us in the rubble. I thank God every day and metallica for saving us because it did exactly that,” said Madeline's mother.

After Madeline had worked on the damage to her house, he felt forced to turn to the band and typed a letter to thank them.

“You saved my parents' lives. I will be grateful forever. Good luck with the rest of your tour and hope to see you on the street. Sincerely, Maddie McKee,” she read the letter.

Madeline's parents say that they hope that they can move back to their house in six months.
