This overlooked Florence Pugh Drama film is about to leave first -class video

Florence Pugh performed some incredible achievements in everything, from “Midsommar” to “little women” to “We live in time”, but it is her quiet, modest role in “A Good Person” that hit me most hardest. And I am ready to bet that it is a performance you have not seen.

“A good person” was published in 2023 and written/staged by Zach Braff.

It did not make a sensation at the box office and despite Pugh's deeply influenced performance, it never fully achieved the attention it deserved. So it's a shame May 29th.

When I saw it for the first time, I hadn't expected it to stay the way it did. Pugh plays Allison, a young woman whose life derails after a tragic accident. What follows is not a properly packaged element sheet, but a story that is chaotic and painful human. Her scenes with Morgan Freeman, who plays a grieving father who navigates his own demons, are among the most emotionally honest that I have seen for years.

Before it leaves Prime video, give “a good person” a chance. It may not be the Florence Pugh film that most most talk about, but it could be the one who stays the longest.

Allison (Florence Pugh) is a living young woman with a promising future that is engaged to her high school schatz Nathan (Chinaza Uke).

However, her life takes a tragic turn if it causes a car accident that leads to the death of Nathan's sister Molly (Nichelle Hines) and Molly's husband. Allison survives, but is dealt with with immense guilt and physical injuries.

A year later, Allison fights a difficult addiction for painkillers and lives with her mother Diane (Molly Shannon), who tries to support her daughter's recovery. In the meantime, Daniel (Morgan Freeman), Nathan and Molly's father and a former policeman will raise his teenagers Ryan (Celeste O'Connor), who deals with the loss of their parents.

Allison and Daniel's life overlap at an anonymous meeting with alcoholics, which leads to an unexpected and complex friendship. Together they confront their mourning and personal demons and search for forgiveness and a way forward.

“A good person” is a warm and emotionally raw drama

I am a very sensitive person, so you don't need much for a film to get a few tears out of me. But “a good person” had me fully Sob At one point, which only proves how emotionally this drama is emotionally.

There are so many layers that slowly withdraw in the course of the story that it naturally pulls them through the movements, which means that they feel hopeful, and in the next their eyes are swollen from crying.

“A good person” begins with a happy moment when Allison and her fiance Nathan have the time of their life at their engagement ceremony, with their family and friends who surround them. It is a heartwarming moment, but also a bitter sweet, considering that they know that something bad will happen.

But that's one of the strengths of the film. It does not pull out these happy scenes because a tragedy can happen at the most unexpected times and the car accident scene makes even more devastating.

The emotions are really from its central characters and their personal travels, especially Allison, which not only shakes their own life, but also the lives of those around them. This includes Daniel, who would have been her father -in -law. Both stories combine in a powerful way.

But what is most impressive about “good people” is that none of these characters is actually good and they are only broken. Allison denies and advertises in addiction while Daniel has difficulty reaching his rebellious granddaughter. They are broken people and fate brings them back to the life of the other.

While most of the film is quite difficult – especially the scenes of Allison, which are due to a bad habit and not receive the right help that she needs (including a mother who does not support you properly) – there is hope under the tragedy. And as a viewer, if you experience the worst moments of the character, you cannot help but capture a piece of promise.

If you are someone who cannot see a film who through all the way through, I can say that it will be easier, and the end definitely brings back a feeling of warmth (which is urgently needed after such a difficult story).

How unique this film feels will probably depend on how many similar emotional dramas have already seen, and as with many such stories, personal experience plays a major role in the well.

This means that Braff sometimes leans into melodrama, where a more reserved touch worked better. (In particular, the emotionally intensive center feels a bit exaggerated.) But even in these moments, he still delivers enough raw, authentic scenes between the characters to compensate for things.

Stream 'a good person' on Prime video before it is gone

I am surprised that “a good person” received the green splash on lazy tomatoes. It has an assessment of 57% out of over 100 critics, but I am glad that the audience has existed much Stronger score of 96%.

The consensus of the audience is: “With a profound story and some really great performances, a good person is a tear drama with tons of heart.”

Unfortunately, this drama was overlooked, and so I hope that people have the chance to see it before it leaves Prime video this month. Florence Pugh delivers one of her most nuanced roles so far and shows another side of her talent, which is both vulnerable and deeply convincing.

So if you feel like a film that is both hopeful and heartbreaking, you can stream “a good person” while you can still be surprised how much it stays with you.
