South Austin, Chicago Crime: Keyana Wells, Joseph Howard, who tried to meet 2 police officers with the vehicle on South Cicero Avenue

Chicago (WLS) – Two men are charged after trying to meet two police officers in Chicago with a vehicle on the city's west side last week, officials said.

According to the CPD, the officers saw a vehicle in a carjacking with two people who are also in the 200 block of the South Cicero Avenue in South Austin, shortly before 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

When the officials tried to take the two men in custody, one of them climbed into the vehicle and tried to beat the officers with it, said CPD.

Both men fled the scene and went north.

An official suffered minor injuries and went to a local hospital for treatment.

CPD announced the fees in connection with the incident on Sunday.

Keyana Wells, a 24-year-old Bolingbrook man, faces two charges with attempted murder and a heavy battery with a fatal weapon.

Joseph Howard, a 38-year-old Chicago man, faces two cases of a heavy battery of a police officer and two charges against the arrest.

The police did not provide further information immediately.
