Oil leak reported in Zawiya as crews to curb spill

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has confirmed that emergency and maintenance teams continue to make efforts to stop a coarse leak of a coarse pipeline south of the city of Zawiya.

In an explanation, the NOC said that Arabian Golf Oil Company teams reacted to the leak immediately. The production from the oil fields in Hamada was stopped via the affected pipeline and a valve in the Reyayina region was closed. The valves on the Zawiya Raffinery were opened to relieve the pressure in the line.

A team of specialists is currently investigating the cause of the leak.

The NOC added that the chairman and board members monitor the situation around the clock, monitor the repair efforts and coordinate the necessary preparations for the rehabilitation of location and other reaction measures.
