Go-kart passenger killed in one of two fatal polk accidents on Saturday

Polk County, Florida-a Go-Kart passenger was killed on Saturday in one of two traffic deaths in Polk County.

The PCSO (Polk County Sheriff's Office) Traffic Murder unit examines the two separate traffic celebrations.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, the Sheriff office received a 911 call about a homemade go -kart, which was hit by a Hyundai Elantra in the Alturas Babson Park Cutoff Road (ABC Road) in Bartow.

A 33-year-old man who lives in the area ran the Go Kart with a 38-year-old male passenger who traveled in a west direction in the ABC Road.

When he slowed down to bend to the left into a private driveway, the GO-Kart was hit by a 21-year-old Lakeland woman to the west by the Hyundai vehicle, according to a PCSO press release.

The passenger was killed.

The driver was flown to a local hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Motorcyclist killed in Polk City

At the beginning of 9:40 a.m., the PCSO received a 911 call for a motorcycle accident with injuries in the Green Pond Road near the San Juan Avenue in Polk City.

A group of motorcycles, led by a 72-year-old Harley Davidson motorcyclist from mascot, drove to the west on the Green Pond Road when the Bleibike entered the right curve and dipped through the center line and the east lane, PCS officers said.

At the same time there was another group of motorcycles to the east. The Leadbike (a Ducati) in the group in the east was hit by the 72-year-old and both motorcyclists were ejected.

The 72-year-old was taken to a local hospital in which he died.

The driver of the Ducati, a 61-year-old Tampa man, suffered broken bones and a collapsed lungs and stays in the hospital.
The examination continues.
