Casey Irsay Foyt, daughter of the late Colts owner Jim Irsay, appointed Ehrenstartter for Indy 500

Casey Irsay Foyt, the daughter of Jim Irsay, owner and CEO of Indianapolis Colts, will serve as an honorary starter for the Indianapolis 500 and wave the green flag on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.

“While Indianapolis is preparing for a special weekend where the unsurpassed ability of our city to successfully organize massive global sporting events, it is incredibly appropriate and particularly useful to celebrate Jim's contributions to our city and our state,” said Mark Miles, President and CEO of Penske Entertainment, to IndyCar.com. “Simply put, the Indianapolis we know and love without Jim are not possible from a distance.”

Jim Irsay died on Wednesday, May 21, in his sleep at the age of 65. His daughters Casey Irsay Foyt, Carlie Irsay-Gordon and Kalen Jackson will meet him as co-owners of the Colts.

Foyt joined the Colts in 2007 and was involved in marketing and community relationships. Before that, she visited Indiana University and completed a degree in sports marketing. Foyt most recently worked for the NFL in London.
