[VIDEO] Due to the massive rear wing of the ZR1, Chevy moved the return view to this place

One of the cool features on all C8 Corvette is the rearview mirror that can see the driver around the car. The rear -view mirror serves both as a traditional mirror and as a switch that plays the video back from the roof camera behind it. The Review camera not only offers a larger field of vision of vehicles than the traditional mirror view, but also helps to eliminate the blind spots on the car.

When the 2025 Corvette ZR1 was unveiled for the first time, many enthusiasts thought that visibility to the back could be a problem due to the massive flexal wing that was mounted on the back of the car. In contrast to the Z06 high -wing, which contains some curves, the fluid of the ZR1 is not and because it is so large, it actually blocks the view from the rear camera of the C8, which is mounted on the top of the car. Thanks to our friend Rick Conti, we now know that we now know the solution from GM for this problem.

Rick was in the National Corvette Museum for another customer R8C delivery and started in the Corvette assembly plant on the other side of the street to read some of the cars parked there. There he came across a Riptide Blue 2026 Corvette ZR1, which was powered by one of the plant employees, and he found that a second camera was added to the backup camera location that is located directly above the license plate. Rick shows how the ZR1 now has two cameras in this place with the high wing, while the traditional spot for the back of the back has an apparent carbon flash cover over the top.

If you now know that the 2026 Corvette ZR1 is set up with this two-camera system via the license plates, will the 2025s receive this safety function after production has started? We have to look at these first deliveries to see if this is the case.

In addition to the new camera arrangement, Rick has also spied on the new visible carbon fiber hood for the 2026s, which covers the instrument measuring devices. This hood will be available on both the ZR1 as well as in Z06 and the E-Ray for 2026. We like the look, but as Rick warned, we are not quite sure whether this visible carbon fiber creates a look against the windshield. Rick was able to snap a video of this hood, which sparkled under the sun, and it is certainly beautiful.

Two ZR1s were parked in front of the assembly plant, with the other being one without wing-split window coupé in the Sea Wolf Gray. Rick is able to record some of the differences between the cars with a high wing and no-wing cars and this a design function that he does not like at all. You can see the full video from Rick below.

Greet everyone, our coffee with Conti takes us to bowling Green, Kentucky and the Corvette assembly plant today. As we were there, we discovered a few new things and one that we indicated months ago. I hope you enjoy the pictures and conversations about changes that we have not yet seen on 2026 Corvette!
