What you should watch out for in today's Coca-Cola 600 on the Charlotte Motor Speedway

Concord, NC-Die Nascar Cup series celebrates one of the most prestigious races with Coca-Cola 600 from this evening on Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Here are a few things that you should keep in mind in today's race, which marks the center of the regular season:

Kyle Larson Double

Kyle Larson tries to end the quest last year, when he made his first attempt on the same day to run in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Rain thwarted this attempt. That shouldn't be an edition on Sunday.

On the same day, Larson tries to only become the fifth driver who takes part in both races. Only one, Tony Stewart, completed all 1,100 miles.

Larson qualified in Charlotte second and will be among the favorites in today's race. Larsons three wins, eight top 5 surfaces, nine top 10 results and 817 laps this season are its most through 12 races in one season.

Larson has the chance to expand his legacy in a significant way today.

Is Denny Hamlin the happiest driver?

After Denny Hamlin qualified 20th place for the Coca-Cola 600, he entered the media center and complained about the pit level that he would likely have. Cup teams choose their mines based in the way they qualify. This meant that Hamlin would not have any of the better pit stalls. And probably would either have a good car in front of him or behind him, which would make it more difficult to get into his mine stand or leave it and cost it time.

Last year Hamlin was blocked by Chris Buescher on the Pit Road and lost places on each of the precautionary groups in Pit Road last year.

Hamlin feared that he was for a similar night until his luck changed on Saturday.

After qualifying, the crew chiefs choose their mines. Hamlins Crew boss Chris Gayle selected the pit level 10. This brought Derek Kraus to Auto No. 44 in the stand in front of Hamlin. Josh Bilicki in Auto No. 66 will plan to stand behind Hamlin.

This is important, since both cars are probably not in the lead for a large part of the race. Hamlin should have an open entrance and open most of this race to his pit level. That could help him win places on the Pit Road.

Can Tyler Reddick's team bounce back?

Tyler Reddick enters today's race after landing the top 10 in five of the last six events.

It begins the 12th place and this is a key race for Reddick and Team No. 45, says Team co-owner Denny Hamlin.

“The 45 team in certain areas needs to reset,” said Hamlin. “You have to return to the basics and not chase a few things. With success, like the 20 and 11 on intermediate products, I think that you sometimes concentrate on the wrong things.

“… both are all talented enough, the driver, the head of the crew, the team. The cars, I know, have absolute speed. They only have difficulty finding balance.”

Whose errors will they cost?

In a 600-mile race, it prevents mistakes as much as the best car.

Drivers can overcome mistakes, just like William Byron in XFinity Race on Saturday. Byron won both phases, but was accelerated on the Pit Road at the beginning of the last phase. Byron gathered to win over the extension.

Have a punishment or lose time on the boxing road can be overcome, but in the Cup series it becomes more difficult with so many good teams and drivers. Sometimes it is not who wins a race, but who loses it.
